2023 Wedding Trends

As I'm planning weddings for 2023, I'm noticing a lot of trends emerging that I want to share, either for inspiration to 2023 brides or for vendors to be updated on what's coming up in the next year.

Disclaimer: These are personal trends that I've been seeing - they don't necessarily mean they're huge trends as of yet in the industry.

Whimsical Fairytale Weddings

Pastels, greenery, fairy lights, and outdoor receptions with a whimsical feel and a LOT of florals has been one I'm seeing a lot. Think magical fairytale Italian vineyard wedding where each of the little blades of grass is a guest. This trend, however, can go two ways. It can be more traditional and luxe or more modern, which usually has some pops of brighter colors to it.

Anti-Bride Weddings

Opposing classic, traditional weddings, I'm seeing a huge surge in anti-bride weddings. Couples picking what they want and not caring about what you're "supposed" to do at weddings (I'm a big fan of this). These types don't have really an overall theme because it's whatever the couple wants. It could look like a suit as opposed to a dress (also a big fan of this), a destination ceremony or a unique venue, and just non-traditional decorations.

Colorful Weddings

I'm seeing a lot of themed or inspired weddings, and I love that! 70's theme/disco theme is a big one right now, but going hand in hand with that, colorful bold weddings in general are huge right now!

Aside from these things, I'm seeing a lot of guest involvement and activities for guests, whether that means elevated seating options, having them pick songs, unique guestbooks, having disposable cameras at each table, etc. I'm also seeing a push for unique vendor experiences - including mobile bars with interactivity, photographers or videographers who will shoot on film, and things like that.

I could be biased on this one, but I have been OBSESSED with fun stationery lately. I see it everywhere, but again, that could just be my algorithm. Lastly, one of my favorite trends I see often recently is mismatched bridal parties, or just nontraditional bridal parties in general. They don't have to be gendered and uniform, have fun with it! Mix up colors! I promise it'll still look cute.

Overall, I think there's a big push for fun and interactive things as COVID has taken that from us for so long, so I feel like 2023 weddings will be the reinstallation of fun at weddings. See ya there.
